Date: 12.11.2004 Time: A time between 3:20 and 3:35 PM Place: Highway 30, between Tolga and Os
Observer: Anonymous, who is living in the Røros town. His own words:
"
Duration: Approx. 4 minutes.
Weather: Clear sky (close to) and afternoon sun. The temperature was 0 °C.
I was passenger in a car going north on highway 30 between the town Tynset and Røros. Less than one
kilometer north of the brigde to Hummelvoll did I see what I first believed was a plane over the western top of mount Hummelfjell,
Elvhøgda. That is closer to my location than mount Hummelfjell. It looked like the "plane" was
standing still, which I thought was strange. Well, it is difficult to judge if it is completly still when you are sitting in
a car in movement. If it was moving, the movement had to be very low. I kept looking at it. I will say it was
approx. 500-600 m above the mountain top. One minute later, it seemed that it moved faster, but the speed was still slow.
It moved in northwest direction towards the village Os. It lowered the altitude as well. The sun was still shining on it,
but now from another direction. I saw now that the "plane" did not have either a tail or wings.
It could therefor not have been a plane, but rather something that looked like it had only the body of a plane.
The colour was white and it was reflecting the light from the sun, like a plane. I did not see any windows on the "object".
I told the female driver about what I had seen for the last two minutes, and pointed towards it.
She tried to look for it, but it was very slippy on the road, so she had to keep her yes on the road. She could therefor not see it.
The object had now crossed the valley in a northwest direction, and could be see above the church in Os. It was a little bit further towards north
than the church, more close to Galåen. Its high above the ground could now have been between 300 to 600 meter, and below the
sunbeam. The object accelerated enormous and disappeared. Our car was now at the bridge crossing Vangrøfta,
a river coming from Dalsbygda going out into the river Glomma. The clock was 3:37 P.M. At 3.38 P.M. did I call Røros
airport to hear if they had observed a plane or something unusual the last 15 minutes. They said no, no plane or anything
unusual the last 15 minutes. Most difficult was to judge the distance to the object.
The first thing I did coming home was to study the map. I will say that the distance was approx 2500 m. It sounds as this is a long
distance, but it was sunshine and the weather was clear, and the object could be seen very clearly.
The size was like a DC9, and it was round in each ends.
