Observations in the year 1987

December 1987

Date: 30.12.1987 Time: 04:00 pm Place: Haltdalen
Observers: Magnus Melien and his wife
A large object came, and it was moving more and more slowly. It went back and forth a bit before disappearing to the north.

Ref. Jon Aspås.

November 1987

Date: 24.11.1987 Time: evening Place: Hessdalen
Observer: Martin Knutsen
Martin was going to the barn and then saw a luminous object coming slowly from the north over Finnsåhøgda. It stopped over Finnsåhøgda and moved back a bit. When Martin came out of the barn it moved a bit to the north, before disappearing in an easterly direction.

Ref. Liv Lillevold.

Date: 18.11.1987 Time: 05:40 pm Place: Aspåskjølen, Hessdalen
Observer: Jon Aspås
A round luminous object came very slowly over Rognefjell and went towards Ålen, that is to say; to the northeast. Possibly uneven movements. When it got a little further than Ålen, it disappeared downwards towards the right and behind the forest.

Ref. Jon Aspås.

October 1987

Date: 17.10.1987 Ime: between 7 pm and 8 pm Place: Sjulungen, Singsås
Observer: Jon Aspås
A large "star" with two blue flashing lights. Also lit up the field. Moved southwest over the mountains.

Ref. Jon Aspås.

August 1987

Date: 22.08.1987 Time: 04:19 am Place: Saxegård Camping, Haltdalen
Observers: Ole Jonny Brænne and 5 more
We arrived at the campsite at about 04:15 am. It was cloudy with a cloud cover of 1.5 to 2 km altitude. Suddenly we saw a point of light with a brightness like an airplane light, which went inside the cloud layer. It soon disappeared. 3 minutes later we saw another light. It went in and out of the cloud layer. This light also disappeared after a short while.

We observed the lights to the west, about 80 degrees above the horizon. They were almost directly above us. When I caught sight of these lights, I immediately thought of the camera I had with me. I had bought spectral gratings etc. in the hope of getting some pictures of the Hessdal phenomenon. The camera clicked. Impossible to get any pictures. My camera wasn't the only one that froze.

These couldn't have been satellites, they were too bright for that. They couldn't have been airplanes either, as it's highly unlikely that they fly the way these lights did. Besides, we should have heard them at that distance (1.5 - 2 km).

January 1987

Date: 17.01.1987 Time: 07:35 pm Place: Hessdalen
Observers: Lars Lillevold, Bjørn Lillevold and one more
A luminous object in "all" colors was seen over Heggset. It passed over Rognefjell, sometimes it moved fast, sometimes slow. It was bright light.

Date: 12.01.1987 Time: 07:55 am Place: Vårhus, Hessdalen
Observers: Bjarne, Hallfrid and Jomar Lillevold
The observatories saw an object moving slowly northwards below the top of Finnsåhøgda. Estimated height is between 700 to 900 meters (above sea level). Finnsåhøgda is 1068 meters (above sea level). The object was oblong and had light in front, with a dark part towards the rear. It was seen through binoculars. No sound. At about 08:20 am an aircraft came towards the north and they could hear the sound of it. The weather was clear, windless and -26°C.

Leif first contacted the military radar station at Gråkallen. They have not registered anything unusual at the given time.
Leif then contacted Trondheim Airport. A plane landed at V&aernes airport at 08:10 am and 08:33 am. They passed over Hessdalen at a high of 12,000 - 13,000 feet (every day).
Leif contacted Jon Aspås. The Aspås family has been guarding in shifts at the relevant time. They have registered a plane heading south at 07:15 am, and a plane heading north at 07:42 am, 07:55 am and 08:24 am.

Date: 09.01.1987 Time: 08:00 am Place: Vårhus, Hessdalen
Observers: Bjarne and Hallfrid Lillevold
A little before 8:00 a.m. a lighted object appeared ahead of Finnsåhøgda moving towards north. As it slowly approached Brattbekken, it quickly plunged down towards the river valley and disappeared.

Ref. Bjarne Lillevold.

Date: 07.01.1987 Time: 07:50 am Place: Vårhus, Hessdalen
Observers: Bjarne and Hallfrid Lillevold
A luminous ball was seen as it passed towards north above Finnsåhøgda. A plane arrived a little later. The sound of this could be heard clearly.
