August 1987
Date: 22.08.1987 Time: 04:19 am Place: Saxegård Camping, Haltdalen
Observers: Ole Jonny Brænne and 5 more
We arrived at the campsite at about 04:15 am. It was cloudy with a cloud cover of 1.5 to 2 km altitude.
Suddenly we saw a point of light with a brightness like an airplane light, which went inside the cloud layer.
It soon disappeared. 3 minutes later we saw another light. It went in and out of the
cloud layer. This light also disappeared after a short while.
We observed the lights to the west, about 80 degrees above the horizon. They were almost directly above us.
When I caught sight of these lights, I immediately thought of the camera I had with me. I had bought spectral gratings etc.
in the hope of getting
some pictures of the Hessdal phenomenon. The camera clicked. Impossible to get any pictures. My camera wasn't the only one that froze.
These couldn't have been satellites, they were too bright for that. They couldn't have been airplanes either, as it's highly unlikely that
they fly the way these lights did. Besides, we should have heard them at that distance (1.5 - 2 km).

The observatories saw an object moving slowly northwards below the top of Finnsåhøgda. Estimated height is between
700 to 900 meters (above sea level).
Finnsåhøgda is 1068 meters (above sea level).
The object was oblong and had light in front, with a
dark part towards the rear. It was seen through binoculars. No sound. At about 08:20 am an aircraft came towards the north and they could
hear the sound of it. The weather was clear, windless and -26°C.
Leif first contacted the military radar station at Gråkallen. They have not registered anything unusual at the given time.
Leif then contacted Trondheim Airport. A plane landed at V&aernes airport at 08:10 am and 08:33 am.
They passed over Hessdalen at a high of 12,000 - 13,000 feet (every day).
Leif contacted Jon Aspås. The Aspås family has been guarding in shifts at the relevant time.
They have registered a plane heading south at 07:15 am, and a plane heading north at 07:42 am, 07:55 am
and 08:24 am.
