I grew up in Hessdalen. I saw something strange long before it became public knowledge that UFO's had been observed in
the Hessdal district. I was about 12-13 years old (born in 1958) when it happened. I don't remember the exact date and time, but it was winter and evening
(between 18:00 and 20:00). My friend and I were out for a walk along the main road. Then we saw a light, it was round, a little bigger than the full moon,
but it wasn't, because it also appeared.
How long the light was there is difficult to say, but it was in any case in the same place approx. 20 minutes. It was in the area
directly above Lake Hersjøen or Berghøgda. We told about it at home, but nobody thought about UFOs in that context then.
It's funny, but my mom saw almost the same thing a few years later. It could be in 1975. A large glowing ball, orange-red-yellow colored, larger than the moon,
"hang" above Finnsøhøgda, or rather Skarvan. She almost thought it was weird, she said unnaturally.
She watched the object for about fifteen minutes, then it suddenly disappeared into the space.
My husband and I later (February 1983) saw a strong, almost pulsating white light, very intense, the size of the moon
except that it grew and decreased constantly. It was observed in Hessdalen here on the farm in Kjerrengvoldgrenda,
in a southwesterly direction. West of lake Hersjøen.
I think I have to mention something that I have not observed myself, but many others have. It is a rather strange story. The farm I grew up on burned to the ground a few years ago (1974). At Easter a couple of years after this, there was a ghost story about the old farm Grøtådalen.
Several tourists saw; "lights" or flames behind the old barn. At first it was a married couple who saw it.
A rather large yellow light. It changed a little, as if it flickered for them. The man was also on his way up to investigate it,
but turned around and went home. They thought maybe it was people with powerful flashlights or something, but it was not.
Later, the next evening, first my cousin and fiance saw the same thing, and later two sons of the married couple
mentioned before. Everyone was scared by it, since 4 elderly people. who had lived on the farm died in the fire I mentioned.
An elderly man (a neighbor of the deceased) also saw this light near the farm, and was frightened. I don't believe in ghosts,
but these people don't know each other, so it's strange if they thought of "making" the same story.
It had to be something. That same Easter, a cabin owner saw a light floating down the valley, along Grøtåa.
He didn't dare mention it until later because he was afraid of not being believed. The light was round, a little bigger than the moon.
It was low in the terrain.
